Service Description

Fridays, 7-8pm March 10 - June 2* *No class on May 26 Note: This session of Vintage Solo Jazz will be picking up where the previous one left off, everyone is welcome to join! Build solo jazz vocabulary, skill, and style while learning the Shim Sham & Big Apple vintage dance routines: The Shim Sham is a line dance with roots in vaudeville and popularized by the late great Ambassador of Swing, Frankie Manning. The Big Apple can famously be seen in the 1939 film Keep Punching performed by Whitey's Lindy Hoppers, choreographed by Frankie Manning. Both are now danced socially at swing events worldwide. If you've been to our social dances, you've seen some of us get into these routines when the appointed songs come on. Now, Kelly & Tank will be breaking them down step by step. The Shim Sham is a practical place to start developing your repertoire of solo jazz moves. The Big Apple will expand on your solo jazz knowledge and take it to a new, energetic level. Minimum of 6 students registered by March 8th required. No drop ins beyond March 17th please. $255 per person for full course includes 12 lessons & free entry to our monthly social dances on Mar 18, Apr 15, and May 20 $25 for drop ins per person per class (accepted from March 10 & March 17 only), does not include free entry to our social dances
